Re: Lottering in parked cars

First of all, if your not a student there don't assume that the vice principal is always correct, just because she is the authority. I know plenty of people who just want to stay in their warm cars and the vice principal has driven around and scoulded them to get inside. Why pay 30 dollars to park in the parking lot if you can't even sit in your car?

I know this well past but sometimes you just have to ask.
If you were that concerned why didn't you keep your children/child home. You are the parent, you make the decisions and you fill out the absent slip.
Why bash a school district when you are responsible for your child?

Supposedly serving lunch brings in the $$$ even on early dismissal days. This is why we serve breakfast too. If parents don't have enough money to feed their kids at home who would think they have money to eat at school? Serving food is a big income for the school and that's why they can't have their ranch dressing either.

Many reasons sometimes I do if for effect, need a higher caliber of illegals to do the posting but I just posted on the front page the major problem.
You will have to admit Hilary Duff looks more like a Heather that a Hilary. I was doing her a big PR favor. I see Hilary and think of screeching, cackling and paint suits.

BD, I am spitting my morning coffee all over the desk right now, I am laughing so hard. I enjoy your current events, and sometimes I think you make the most blatant errors, just to see who is awake & who is brain dead. To wit:
Photo of why Education is Imporant? Huh? Are you driving home the point a little too hard?
And, how can you mangle Hilary Duff into Heather Duffy? Maybe it was her hot photo?

"The fear of giving offense—especially to ethnic and religious minorities, and people who do poorly for various reasons (uneducated, lower class, disabled, and so forth)—is ubiquitous in our society, but we should be used to it by now. Social distance is the price we pay for diversity. We avoid excluding some people by being remote to everyone." -The volokh conspirracy
Nothing wrong with Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings if used in the right context. The whole winter solstice period is filled with special productivity wasting days from Festivus to 12th Night. They are both good shortcuts. Now advertising Holiday Trees or singing the 12 Days of Holiday is a bit much and should be ridiculed.

" there is not much for the superintendent to do on any day but hold responsiblilty." That happens to be a lot in itself. The problems of one student alone can eat up the best part of a day. During one interim period after the abrupt departure of Mr. Gilly we had two or three people doing various parts of the job and they all looked rather ragged towards the end. Even the Board Pres. Mr. Mawbry was stopping by to try and ease the burden.
" Why is the superintendent one of the highest paid in the county when are teachers are in the least paid in the county? " Both statements are false both are more towards the upper middle. You can't just go by the published salary of Supt. a lot have payments buried in the contract as deferred compensation. We chose not to do this and go with a transparent arrangement. We have had principals leave here to be a principal in nearby districts and earn more than our Sup't. There just isn't a large supply of qualified individuals for administrative positions, especially at the Sup't level.
I am also struck by the logic of how the asst. supt. both does nothing and does all the supt. work. While true it is a more recent addition it is a very necessary position due to the increased burden from state and federal mandates. The position while not always visible has a very direct affect on the students. One of the main responsibilities is coordination the curriculum across the grades and academic disciplines. The position has paid for itself in maximizing federal and state funding, lower cost of text books, and locating the most advantageous education arrangement for special needs students for both the student and the district. Besides we have one of the smallest and low central office overhead cost in the area. In the last go around we couldn't even find a replacement for the Asst. Supt. for what we are able to pay. Ended up with one viable candidate and rather hire by default will be readvertising the position.

I agree with fallacy hunter, please list for us what each administrator does because I didn't realize you are there with them 24/7 to KNOW. By the way, if you are going to go off about education, at least open a dictionary. You are letting your true "intellegence" show.

In years past, letters from the school district have indicated that should a parent not feel comfortable sending in their children on bad weather days, they could keep them home. Now, if you abuse this right, issue will be had with you regarding truancy problems. Fortunately, this situation does not arise often enough for truancy to be an issue. You just have to COMMUNICATE YOUR DECISION TO THE SCHOOL ON THAT DAY!!! Not a difficult concept or breaking of any laws.

So you would let some regulation over rule your resposibility as a parent? Its not like the district has an attendance gestpo breaking down doors dragging out wayward urchins.
